bell hooks talks about ‘appropriation’ in terms of cannibalism. you can check out her work in ‘eating the other’ — that could be a good place to develop some new words.

as for sounding like either a immoral capitalist or immoral anti-capitalist. i was playing off of Nietzsche’s The Genealogy of Morality — in this he talks about how guilt and debt have the same root word in German. I was proposing to replace white guilt with white debt. I think it would be an interesting shift in language. White guilt allows the person to focus on the self, whereas white debt would require some action.
